An open invitation to submit case studies of interprofessional education was issued to HEIs in Wales in 2008-2010. Those submitted were read by a panel including people knowledgeable about IPE, Higher Education in Wales and the use of the Welsh language in Higher Education, and perspectives of learners, teachers and service users and carers. Following review, authors have had opportunity to update and develop the original submission, a process which we hope will continue as courses evolve. The case studies are some examples of interprofessional education developments in Wales. Readers familiar with IPE will recognise many of the challenges for the teams introducing interprofessional learning. The intention in this collection is not to provide models of best practice or ‘how to do’ interprofessional education, but contextualised examples with critical reflection on the planning and implementation to enhance transferability and future development.
