Institute for Healthcare Improvement – IHI CEO Derek Feeley believes that now is the right time to shift the conversation from clinician burnout to joy in work. “People quite rightly point out that there’s an enormous chasm between where we are right now and joy in work,” writes Feeley in his latest “Line of Sight” post. To help bridge that chasm, he proposes that leaders implement the step-by-step approach described in IHI’s new white paper, IHI Framework for Improving Joy in Work. Feeley notes that a healthy skepticism about promoting joy in work as the antidote to burnout is understandable, and provides advice on how health care leaders might address such skepticism.
