The Stoneygate Centre for Empathic Healthcare will improve patients’ lives by pioneering an innovative approach to medical education and training that positions empathy at the heart of healthcare.

Pre-launch Conference, 12 noon – 5pm
The event will start with a networking lunch followed by keynote lectures, with Professor Nisha Dogra speaking about how an approach to diversity can lead to empathy. There will be a range of workshops presented by experts in the field, including conversations around end-of-life care, empathic approaches to obesity, patient involvement in medical education and a symposium on communication in inclusion health.
Official Launch, 5pm – 7.30pm
The official launch will include:
– A keynote speech by Sir Jonathan Van-Tam, former Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England.
– A panel discussion on the role of empathy within the NHS. Panellists include:
- Professor Sue Carr, Deputy Medical Director, General Medical Council
- Jonathan Broad, Senior Manager for Personalised Care, NHS England
- Dr. Ronx Ikharia, Accident and Emergency Doctor and TV presenter
- Professor Sir Mayur Lakhani, Chair of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management
